SFWA has a list of books recommended by one of their members here. Is there anything you would recommend adding to that list?

As a general rule, I don't read writing books, so my exposure is limited. However, for prose I do recommend Donald Maas' WRITING THE BREAKOUT NOVEL, and for understanding story structure, Robert McKee's STORY. The latter is marketed to screenwriters, but the basic principles also apply to prose. It's my favorite writing book ever, however, a few friends who tried it on my recommendation find it too academic and dry for them to get into and/or easily understand.
